The aim of the Cellequs project, developed by the LAGENBIO research group at the University of Zaragoza, is to create a bank of equine mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to provide researchers, veterinarians, and companies with well-characterised and high-quality equine MSCs to advance research into cell therapies. This is a novel project that will create, for the first time, a bank of equine MSCs tested for the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). MHC compatibility between donor and patient is an important feature to improve effectiveness and safety of allogeneic cell therapies.
Proof of Concept Project

The development of the cell bank, including the costs derived from the analysis of the equine MHC haplotype, the obtainment and conservation of MSCs, their characterisation and their future application will be covered by the Cellequs Project, which is funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/: “Unión Europea Next Generation EU/PRTR” under grant agreement I+D+i PDC2021-121047-100.
