Cellequs project travels to Italy
On 21st October it took place in Turin (Italy) the annual meeting of the Italian Group Staminali Mesenchimali (MSC Italian Group). Our colleague, Dr. Laura Barrachina, was invited as keynote speaker for the veterinary session of the congress to talk about mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their therapeutic use in veterinary medicine. Her talk, entitled “Mesenchymal stem cells and immune properties: what have we learned for their allogeneic applications”, was received with great interest by the audience. During the presentation, Laura talked about the research carried out by our research group LAGENBIO and the importance of equine haplotypes for donor-recipient compatibility in cell therapies with MSCs. In this setting, Laura also gave visibility to our new project, Cellequs, for the creation of an equine MSC bank, a proposal that seeks to develop and improve the safety and efficacy of cell therapies in horses.
